Register criteria
Implementing the Register criteria across all New Zealand quality assured qualifications means that:
- quality assurance of qualifications is consistently applied
- prospective graduates can compare qualifications
- people can make informed choices about which qualification pathway to pursue.
The Register database (available here through the search function) holds:
- the title of the qualification, consistent with other qualifications on the Register
- the level at which the qualification is registered (1 to 10)
- the outcome statement attached to the qualification
- the credit requirements of the qualification (120 credits is equivalent to one year of full-time study)
- the subject classification
- qualification developer/provider details.
Qualifications registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) are included in the Register.
Developers of non-NQF based qualifications must seek course approval from the relevant quality assurance body and the qualification must be
consistent with the definitions of qualifications outlined here.
